Even if the information she has on him is through state records, those records would indicate that two boys under the same last name. Why bring all this up? What does it have to do with Sam and Nate’s relationship? To begin with this raises the question of is Sam even really Nate’s brother? During Marlowe’s deception games, she never brings up Sam’s name or his existence, dead or not, but she does mention every other aspect of his life. This would be the perfect time to use this bit of nasty information to try and deceive Nate to turn on Sully by comparing Nate’s own betrayal of his own flesh and blood to die from a bullet wound and if he could turn and run on his own brother, what’s stopping Sully from turning tail on him? Sure we learn from the PSX trailer that Nate believed his brother to be dead after he saw him get shot, but even if he were presumed dead, why wouldn’t Marlowe bring up this fact? She already mentions his dead mother, why not twist the knife a bit further and trudge up the past about his dead brother and the most important fact that Nate had just abandoned him after being shot? He doesn’t even check to see if his own brother is still breathing or not before leaving him to bleed out? At this point in time during Uncharted 3, Marlowe is trying to convince Nate that Sully is only in it for Sully and that he has abandoned him as he hasn’t mounted up a search to track down where they had taken Nate. Either way, the main interest here is that she knows everything about Nate, except she fails to mention a single word about his own brother. This could be because the information found could easily be gathered from public record due to the types of files she has in her folder, or because of her power and knowledge that stems from being the leader of a hermetic secret society that’s four hundred years old.

From what Marlowe has gathered about Nate, she knows everything from his real name (which is not stated), to his mother’s suicide, to his father giving him up to the state she even knows about Drake and Elena’s past. If we were to take a deeper looking into the actual conversation Marlowe has with Nate, however, some inconsistencies pop up. During Nate’s time at Saint Francis Boys Home, he learns a great deal about Latin and the voyages of Sir Francis Drake, which eventually leads to him leaving the Boys home and making his way to Colombia by the time he turns fifteen. It is here where we can start to piece together some of the tidbits of information we have on Sam Drake. According to Marlowe’s file she has on Nate, which details all the major events of his early life, when Nate turned five his mother committed suicide and his father had relinquished custody of him to the state, leading to Nate ending up in Saint Francis Boy’s Home. All we do know about Nate is mostly derived from his conversation with Katherine Marlowe after Nate was drugged and taken to her in Yemen during the events of Uncharted 3. Nathan Drake has seen a stretch of three death-defying adventures and now with his last adventure coming up in March, fans will finally be getting what they always wanted from the beloved, witty and charming character…backstory! Not much is known about Nathan Drake in regards to his past before teaming up with Sully in Cartagena, Colombia back when he was just a teenage boy. The wait for March seems like a long ways away, but fans were treated to a new cutscene and dialogue mechanic during PSX this year and if we didn’t already have enough questions regarding Nate’s brother Sam, we sure have a lot more now. With the release of Uncharted 4 on the way, many fans are ready to gear up and head out on another action/adventure thrill ride with PlayStation mascot Nathan Drake.
